A woman wearing a veil, as the name suggests, wears a fine veil on her head. In modern Western weddings, the bride wears white gauze on her head. Therefore, the expression can not only refer specifically to women wearing veils, but also to mean women who are married or newly married, weddings, and spun yarns.
